Vortex™ extinguishes small fires in large rooms in naturally ventilated environments. The average Vortex™ droplet size is less than 10 microns, using a minimal amount of water, released per emitter – as little as 3.8 litres per minute – virtually eliminates any wetting in a space. The Vortex™ fire suppression system provides the best capabilities of both water mist and inert gas systems. Ease of design, minimal wetting and advanced fire suppression capabilities all give the Vortex™ system the advantage over existing systems. The homogeneous mixture of water droplets and nitrogen gas is propelled with enough energy to overcome the drag effect that has limited the effectiveness of traditional water mist systems.

The Victaulic Vortex 1000 fire suppression system is a hybrid system incorporating liquid (water) and inert gas (nitrogen) extinguishing agents discharged together from a single emitter.
The Victaulic Vortex fire suppression system is a dual-fluid hybrid fire suppression system. The homogeneous suspension of inert gas mixed with ultra-fine droplets of water mist protects enclosures with two extinguishment mechanisms that are occurring simultaneously: flame temperature cooling and lowering of the ambient oxygen level.
The Victaulic Vortex Combination Box is a primary component in the Vortex System. The Combination Box is comprised of the essential components that create the Victaulic Vortex mist and control the discharge into the hazard. Each component inside the enclosure is factory installed and tested for operation. One Combination Panel is designed to provide fire suppression for a single hazard.
Series 950 for use with Victaulic Vortex 1000 and Victaulic Vortex 1500 Fire Suppression Systems
The Victaulic Vortex system requires a supply of water either from a municipal pipe source or captive water supply. The tanks available from Victaulic are available in 30, 60, 80, 120 and 200 gallon configurations. All tanks ship with water-level gauges, supervised water level switches and sight glasses.

The Victaulic Vortex® 500 fire suppression system is a hybrid system incorporating liquid (water) and inert gas (nitrogen) extinguishing agents discharged together from a single emitter. Using proprietary supersonic technology, the system atomizes the water to <10μm forming a dense homogeneous suspension of nitrogen and water. In this manner two extinguishment mechanisms are occurring simultaneously: cooling and oxygen reduction.
