Proven to be one of the most effective forms of passive explosion protection, explosion venting provides overpressure protection from potential deflagration hazards by providing a planned pathway for the expanding gases to escape.
Explosion venting is the most common explosion protection strategy in use today. When properly applied, explosion venting will prevent the explosion from reaching potential maximum pressures. By providing a planned pathway for the expanding gases to escape. Damage to industrial equipment subjected to explosions can be controlled through the use of explosion vents that are virtually maintenance free. In addition, safe venting of explosions in electrical switch rooms provide structural integrity and prevent building destruction in the case of an electrical ARC explosion. Our range of explosion relief vents include resettable venting systems specifically for explosion relief of electrical substations and switch rooms.
An explosion vent is a pressure relief device, designed to give an instantaneous opening at a predetermined pressure. Its purpose is to protect the equipment from excessive pressures caused by dust or gas deflagrations
Fike Corporation designs simple, reliable explosion protection solutions to meet your safety requirements. Fike’s high performance Vmax vent features a single membrane,multi-dome surface that provides the longest service life for harsh conditions such as pulsating or cycling, higher operating pressures, and stronger vacuum.
Damage to industrial equipment subjected to explosions can be controlled through the use of explosion venting. Explosion venting as a concept introduces a “weak element” in the pressure envelope of the equipment, relieving the internal combustion pressure in case of an explosion.

Fike Corporation designs simple, reliable explosion protection solutions to meet your safety requirements. Approximately half of grain dust explosions originate from a bucket elevator. Fike developed the EleQuench explosion vent with easy installation features for use on elevator legs. For indoor elevators where vent ducting is not desirable, affordable, or possible, Fike offers a flameless venting companion to the EleGuard™ vent. The EleQuench flameless venting device prevents the release of flame and product, typically relieved during an explosion. The EleQuench filter and EleGuard vent bolt directly onto the elevator
Fike designs simple, reliable explosion protection solutions to meet your safety requirements. Fike’s Composite Vent, or CV, is widely used and sets the industry standard for explosion vents. This flat vent layers stainless steel and FEP or PFA film to create a high performance explosion vent. The CV is an effective solution for static to light pressure cycling and light vacuum conditions.
Fike Corporation designs simple, reliable explosion protection solutions to meet your safety requirements. The CV-SF vent is constructed with a support frame with back-up bars in the vent frame assembly to provide extra support for higher vacuum conditions while maintaining a flat profile. The Fike CV-SF vent is a composite membrane, high performance explosion vent that provides a superior service life for static to light pressure cycling conditions. Typical applications include separation, drying, storage, conveyance, and processing operations.
Fike designs simple, reliable explosion protection solutions to meet your safety requirements. The Fike CV-I vent is a composite membrane, high performance explosion vent that provides service life for static to light pressure cycling conditions. The CV-I vent is constructed with insulation to accommodate higher temperature processes, up to 800°F/425°C. Typical applications include separation, drying, storage, conveyance, and processing operations.
Fike designs simple, reliable explosion protection solutions to meet your safety requirements. The Fike CV-S explosion vent is especially designed to provide non-fragmenting opening when protecting industrial processing equipment. Round CV-S vents operate up to full vacuum levels depending on vent size. Rectangular CV-S vents are designed for use in applications where the operating pressure approaches the burst pressure, or where moderate vacuum pressure may exist.
Fike designs simple, reliable explosion protection solutions to meet your safety requirements. The Fike CV-H vent is a composite membrane, high performance explosion vent for sanitary processes where no vacuum conditions exist. Typical applications include separation, drying, storage, conveyance, and processing operations.
Fike Corporation designs simple, reliable explosion protection solutions to meet your safety requirements. Fike’s EleGuard is a single element, explosion venting device specifically designed for use in protecting bucket elevators from damaging explosions. This cost-effective explosion vent is also easy to install because of its integrated frame, requiring only six bolts. In addition, the EleGuard can be installed with Fike’s EleQuench™ flame filter to provide safe venting options for indoor applications. EleGuard explosion vents used in combination with EleQuench flame filters should include a rupture indicator (RI) to provide supervision and notification when the vent ruptures. The EleGuard can be factory-equipped with an RI, featuring a 3 meter cable with flying leads, for connection to monitoring equipment. Extension cables of 10 and 25 meters are also available.
Fike’s unique, high performance Sani-VA and Sani-VSA explosion vents for demanding “clean” applications are designed to: • Simplify handling and to minimize the risk for damage during installation by using lightweight materials • Meet or exceed the requirements per European norms EN 14797 and EN 14491, and the NFPA 68 standard • Meet or exceed the specific needs for Clean In Place/Steam In Place production environments The Sani-VA and Sani-VSA explosion vents are the only explosion venting devices available to the industry that are in full compliance with the requirements of both the 3-A and EHEDG hygienic/sanitary industry standards.
Fike designs simple, reliable explosion protection solutions to meet your safety requirements. The CV-CF vent is constructed with a foam filling in its core to accommodate more aggresive pressure cycles and high vibrations. Typical applications include separation, drying, storage, conveyance, and processing operations.
Fike FlamQuench flameless vents are designed to protect people and equipment from flames and dust.
In the event of an explosion, flame and dust discharge into the FlamQuench device.
